How to use multiple WhatsApp accounts on one PC
Three methods that work in 2026 — from the free two-account trick to running dozens of numbers in one window — with the steps, the limits and what to watch out for.
Many businesses run more than one WhatsApp number: one per shop, per country, per salesperson. On a phone that means several phones. On a computer you have three good options.
Quick answer: for two accounts, use the WhatsApp Desktop app for one and WhatsApp Web in your browser for the other. For more than two, use separate browser profiles or a multi-account app such as GlotChat.
What you need first
- One phone per WhatsApp account. Each account belongs to a phone number and is linked to your computer by scanning a QR code with that phone (WhatsApp → Linked devices).
- A Windows PC with enough memory. Each open WhatsApp account uses roughly 300–450 MB of RAM. 8 GB is comfortable for about 10 accounts; 16 GB or more for 20–30.
- Phones that come online now and then. Linked devices keep working while the phone is off, but WhatsApp logs them out if the phone itself isn't used for about 14 days.
Method 1: WhatsApp Desktop + WhatsApp Web (2 accounts, free)
- Install WhatsApp from the Microsoft Store and link your first number.
- Open web.whatsapp.com in your browser and link your second number.
- Keep both open. Notifications come from two different apps, so you can tell them apart.
Good for: two numbers. Limits: a third account needs another browser, and nothing is translated.
Method 2: Separate browser profiles (several accounts, free)
- In Chrome or Edge, click your profile picture → Add profile. Create one profile per WhatsApp number and give it a clear name.
- In each profile, open web.whatsapp.com and link one number.
- Pin each profile to the taskbar so you can open them quickly.
Good for: three to five numbers. Limits: one window per account, notifications that don't clearly say which number they're for, and every message still needs to be translated by hand.
Method 3: A multi-account app (many accounts, one window)
A multi-account desktop app runs each WhatsApp account in its own isolated session inside one window. With GlotChat:
- Install GlotChat on Windows 10 or 11 and click Add account for each number.
- Scan the QR code with that number's phone (WhatsApp → Linked devices). Name the account — "Shop UAE", "Sales — Ahmed".
- Switch with one click or Ctrl+K. Every notification shows which account it belongs to.
- Turn on translation: incoming messages are translated under the original and your replies are translated before you send them.
Good for: many numbers, and customers who write in other languages. We've tested 27 accounts running at the same time.
Which method should you choose?
| Desktop + Web | Browser profiles | Multi-account app | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Accounts | 2 | 3–5 comfortably | Many (27+ tested in GlotChat) |
| One window | No | No | Yes |
| Notification shows the account | Partly | Partly | Yes |
| Translation | No | No | Yes (GlotChat) |
| Cost | Free | Free | Paid (GlotChat from 69 USDT / year) |
Is it allowed? Will my accounts get banned?
Linking accounts to WhatsApp Web is an official WhatsApp feature, and all three methods use it. What gets accounts banned is behaviour: spam, bulk messages to people who didn't ask for them, and modified WhatsApp apps (like "GB WhatsApp"). Use your accounts the way you'd use your phone and you're fine.
Tips for running many numbers
- Name every account after the shop, country or person — you'll thank yourself at the 10th number.
- Save quick replies for the questions you get every day.
- Put rarely used accounts to sleep to keep your PC fast.
- Answer in the customer's language. It's the fastest way to win a buyer — and with translation built in, it takes no extra time.

Quick answers
Can I use two WhatsApp accounts on one computer?
Yes. The simplest way is the WhatsApp Desktop app for one account and WhatsApp Web in a browser for the second.
How many WhatsApp accounts can I use on one PC?
There's no fixed limit when each account runs in its own session; memory is the limit. GlotChat has been tested with 27 accounts at once.
Do I need to keep my phones on?
No, linked devices work while the phone is off. But open WhatsApp on each phone at least every two weeks, or the linked device is logged out.
